My FPV Journey – GPS Module, My Diatone Taycan = Lots of Fun!

https://youtu.be/XGy6txirEC0
31/07/20

I have been flying my Diatone Taycan Line Of Sight for sometime but I added a GPS unit to it and now started flying it FPV. I was a little nervous to start with but after the first flight just loved it.

I think having a GPS is a good idea because you can use the data to find your drone if it goes down in an unforgiving area plus the GPS speed is a great bonus.

My FPV Journey - Syma X5C-1 Heading for the Hills!

https://youtu.be/XM7Cvy---NM
06/06/20

I wanted to share this flight with you as it put a big smile on my face. Having flown model aircraft for some years I never saw what the model was seeing until I bought a cheap camera and attached it to my Canary Trainer and I remember the thrill of seeing the video of the flight for the first time but it is no comparison to being at the controls and seeing in real time what is happening to the model.

I am amazed at the range of the Syma’s receiver next up going right to the top of the hill! Let’s hope it makes it as I have no OSD or telemetry coming back from the quad.

What a fantastic hobby.

Keep safe out there.

I got this idea from a subscriber who added FPV to his Syma quad so I decided to give it a go and I am glad I did. You only have angle mode but at least it is helping me get use to flying with my goggles.

First flight I did with the set up I was so chuffed!

My FPV Journey #16 – FPV Flight Simulation with Box Goggles

https://youtu.be/HYHyn1IjjoA
16/09/19

The second time I have used my box goggles connected to my laptop using Liftoff so I screen recorded the flight. I hope this helps other people to see it’s not so easy but do not give up and keep at it not everyone is a natural FPV Pilot, definitely not me! You may notice I was trying to approach the tree moving towards it and stopping and moving back then flying around it rather than just whizzing around.

TMA FPV Journey #15 - Using my Hawk Eye Box Goggles with Liftoff https://youtu.be/LwNhtPr5GMU
13/09/19

Went with a friend to the big city, Bloemfontein, and decided to purchase a HDMI to AV converter so I can plug my goggles in to my laptop so I can practice FPV flying with the simulator LiftOff. First real flight was a little harsh on my quad copter. I have done my first 20 minutes on LiftOff and it was cool. Will practice more before letting loose in reality again!

Purchased the HDMI to AV Converter from Kloppers

TMA FPV Journey #14 - First FPV flight with Hawk Eye Box Goggles https://youtu.be/JFA518keiOM
09/09/19

My first FPV flight ever using the Hawk Eye Little Pilot box goggles. The goggles are great the picture is very clear and work well with my glasses. It is nice that you do not need to take off the goggles to look at your surroundings. I need to practice as it is not easy and need a spotter to help me I will ask them to tell me if I am going outside an imaginary box in front of me.

Will keep you updated on my progress.

Hawk Eye googles available from banggood.

My FPV Journey, I have got my box goggles! They are Hawkeye Little Pilot VR box goggles as reviewed on Stew’s YouTube channel UAVfutures https://youtu.be/u0SG3hAZkrM

I modified mine out of the box to include some Velcro, which I sewed on to the back of the head strap to hold my battery using stick Velcro on the battery. It was comfortable before this modification but now the battery weight holds the strap down nicely.

I will review the goggles at a later date from a prospective of a complete beginner. They are available from Banggood.com
